As some rumors have surmised, it appears as if the next version of Photoshop will be special enough to be separated out from the pack after all. Adobe plans to announce today that the company will be releasing two different versions of Photoshop this year: Photoshop CS3, and Photoshop CS3 Extended.Photoshop CS3 will be the standard version of Photoshop that will come out with the next version of the Creative Suite, which Adobe will be unveiling at a special event on March 27. However, Photoshop CS3 Extended will be “everything in Photoshop CS3 plus a new set of capabilities for integration of 3D and motion graphics, image measurement and analysis,” according to the company. “Photoshop CS3 Extended also simplifies the workflow for professionals in architecture, engineering, medical and science.”
No pricing or availability of the two versions of Photoshop are available at this time, but the company says that—after the introduction of the two products today—it plans to make the full announcement about the products on March 27 alongside the other CS3 products.
Adobe now has a page up on its site detailing the two versions of Photoshop CS3.
